Hi friends, I’m so glad you’re here!

My name is Em. Poetry and analogue photography are my greatest and most honest ways of speaking and seeing the world — profoundly influenced by children’s literature, big dreaming, and an even bigger imagination.

When my grandfather gave me a Pentax ME Super 35mm film camera at thirteen, I had no idea my world would change from that moment on. Over the two decades, I have passionately pursued photography and poetry as the truest ways I know how to witness, feel, and hold the world around me. One camera slowly turned into a collection. My poetry became something I could give away to others, as well as give breath to my own story in a way that made emotions feel tangible. 

This has taken me all over the country and world, from music video sets to weddings, from published print, to personal stories coming to page. 

Paper Star & Print was born from my love of astronomy (yes, I’m also a park ranger) and the fact that at 33, I’m still building forts in my living room covered in paper gold stars. Typewritten poetry, analogue photographs untouched by editing, honest captures of real moments that hold you — this is the heart of my work.
